SylvaC
This page includes some information on fakes I've seen, SylvaC in my collection, SylvaC I'd like to have in my collection ;-) and SylvaC I have for sale.

Fakes
I have seen a number of SylvaC fakes in antique and collectors shops in this country and also what I believe to be fakes on Ebay.  The piece I've seen most of is the large 11" terrier, mould number 1380.  The main giveaway is that the SYLVAC and MADE IN ENGLAND marks are non-uniform, ie the letters aren't all the same height and in a straight line as they would be if they were stamped at the time of moulding.  They appear to have the look that they were put on by hand using a wire or something.
Further, the colours aren't the same as those used in the SylvaC factory - I have seen many matt green dogs which are a more "washed-out" shade than the original.  This same colouring applies to some large jugs, mainly those with the stork handle (1960), mushroom with gnomes handle (1969) and the squirrel jug (1958).
Another point is that a genuine 1380 terrier will probably cost beween £120 and £180 ($200 - $300) and the ones I've seen have been between £40 and £50.  Also these haven't been advertised as SylvaC although the mark is visible on the base.
And finally, look out for dogs with strange "staring" eyes - the original dogs looked slightly to one side and appeared friendly rather than sinister!!

SylvaC
At last, some photos!
I currently have five of the set of six character jugs which form the "ROBIN HOOD" collection.  I have Friar Tuck (5113), Robin Hood (5114), Sheriff of Nottingham (5115), Little John (5116) and Maid Marion (5117) and I need Allan A Dale (5118).
I have three of the BLACK ELEPHANTS of varying sizes, numbers 768, 769 and 771 - 4", 6" and 8.5" high respectively.  March 1999 - got the missing 770 from Ebay.
I have the BLACK CATS 1086 and 1087 - 5" and 7" high and need the missing 1088 - 9" high.
I am particularly keen on the animal MONEY BOXES.  I have the green tortoise (5091), green frog (5097), brown bloodhound (5103), tan brown chipmunk (5105) and the yellow/brown owl (5106).
I also have a few other bits and pieces that don't fit in with any other stuff, but which I just quite like.
